BabyBjorn are renowned for producing high quality, stylish baby products from carriers to changing bags. Their products also tend to be higher priced than the market average and the Baby Bjorn Bouncer Balance Soft is certainly no exception, weighing in at a cool £100-£115. So, how does it compare versus cheaper baby bouncers? Find out in our Baby Bjorn Bouncer review below.

BabyBjorn-Bouncer-Balance-Soft_4The Bouncer Balance Soft is the latest baby bouncer from Baby Bjorn and follows on from the previous generation Babysitter in terms of style and design features. This ergonomic bouncer allows your child to develop their motor skills and balance naturally as no batteries are included and the chair relies solely on your baby’s movements.

The safety harness is easily adjustable and there are safety catches and each side to stop your child from breaking free. The fabric is also very soft to the touch and the Bouncer Balance is available in a wide range of colours and fabrics including cotton, mesh and organic cotton. However, we would avoid the lighter colours for practical reasons. The cover is however removed very easily and can be machine washed.

BabyBjorn-Bouncer-Balance-Soft_3One of the great advantages of the BabyBjorn bouncer is it comes equipped with the ability to change to three different seating positions allowing for sleep, resting and play.  Its also fairly simple to adjust the seating position without disturbing your child simply by moving the support under the seat.

When your child gets older (2 is the maximum recommended age) and is capable of sitting on their own, the seat cover can be reversed, so this Baby Bjorn baby bouncer can then be used as a chair. The front base and legs have an anti-slip finish to stop the bouncer and your child moving around on harder floor surfaces. A nice touch is that the Bouncer Balance can also be folded almost completed flat for ease of storage and for packing into the car.

BabyBjorn-Bouncer-Balance-Soft_2Sounds too good to be true; any negatives? Well yes, some. There are no toys included with the Bouncer Balance and BabyBjorn charge a steep £25 for their own wooden Baby Bjorn bouncer toy bar. If you want to add a toy then we would recommend finding a cheaper alternative. Some parents may also want a gentle vibrating function on the seat to soother their child, the Balance relies on the child or you rocking them to sleep. Not a major point, but worth considering.

The key thing you have to be aware of when purchasing this bouncer is that it is for use from birth; once your baby reaches a certain weight you’ll no longer be able to use two of the positions. So to get the maximum use from your £100 investment you really need to buy when your child is very young.

Overall though a high quality, thoughtfully designed baby bouncer that works very hard to justify its higher price.
