If you are in the market for a new cordless lawnmower for a larger garden, then the Greenworks G40LM41K2x is certainly worth consideration due to cutting abilities.
Although the Greenworks brand might not be as familiar as more household names in garden power tools such as Flymo and Bosch, they do have an extensive range of lawnmowers and other garden tools.
The G40LM models are the second range up in the Greenwwork cordless lawnmower range (the G24LM being the base model). The G40LM range is available in 3 cutting widths, 35, 41 and 45cm, with the 41cm being a popular model.
So how does the Greenworks G40LM41K2x cordless lawnmower compare?
Contents
Lawnmower Type and Power
The Greenworks G40LM41K2x is a cordless rotary mower that is available with either one or two 2Ah batteries (in this review we have looked at the two battery model). The two battery model is going to give you longer run time, so in addition to the wider cutting width, this model is ideal for larger lawn areas.
The 45 minute run time is fairly typical of cordless lawnmowers in this price range and is almost identical to the run time on the Flymo EasiStore 300R Li and Yard Force 34cm cordless lawnmower.
Cutting Performance
This particular Greenworks Lawnmower model sits in the middle of the G40LM range with a 41 cm cutting width (other options are 35 and 45cm widths). This does allow you to cut more grass in one run.
Height adjustment is in 5 stages and can be set between 25 and 80mm in height, although at 80mm height you may find that the battery-powered lawnmower struggles with this length of grass.
Grass Collection & Emptying
The Greenworks G40LM41K2x features a flexible grass collection bag with an impressive 50 litre capacity which makes it stand out from its cheaper cordless lawnmower rivals.
The bag does make emptying easier but when full, 50 litres of grass cutting can get heavy, so you may find that you are emptying the bag before it gets full.
Manoeuvrability and Storage
This is certainly not a lightweight lawnmower weighing in at a hefty 18kg and is one of the heaviest cordless lawnmowers we have reviewed. And this is without a nearly full 50 litre grass collection bag to push along.
Compared to the Flymo EasiStore range, the Greenworks G40LM41K2x doesn’t do anything particularly clever when it comes to storage, you get a folding handle and that’s it. At this price point, we would have expected Greenworks to have gone a little further in the innovative storage features area.
Other Features
A unique feature on the Greenworks G40LM41K2x is a mulching option, which allows you to deposit the grass cuttings directly onto the lawn to act as a fertiliser. Not sure we would ever use this though.
Operation is via a handle mounted bail arm lever so you can operate the mower in most positions on the handle.
If you are looking for a striped lawn finish then you’ll have to look elsewhere as a rear-mounted roller is not included on this model.
Conclusion
If you have a larger garden then the large cutting box capacity, wide cutting width and long battery time really do make the Greenworks G40LM41K2x a good choice. However, it is more expensive than other similar powered 40v cordless lawnmowers and its doesn’t really stand out when it comes to innovative features. Worth putting on your shortlist though.
